I am applying for use of the Mozilla Organization trademark, name and the Firefox browser trademark and name for use in a professional motor sports marketing project. I am the owner of an Infinity Pro Series race team based in Indianapolis, IN. We compete in the support series of the Indy Racing League (http://www.indyracingleague.com/) I would like to utilize our motor sports team to promote the products and services of the Mozilla Organization by selling t-shirts, hats, and related collectibles featuring the Mozilla names and trademarks on our race car and team vehicles, etc. I am not seeking ANY form of renumeration from the Mozilla Organization itself towards the motorsports sponsorship project, nor will I directly solicit any form of donation from Mozilla Firefox and other Mozilla software. Thanks very much, Robby Richards Richards Racing 317-815-1328 Office 317-225-9281 Cell

Robby, I vaguely recall replying to an email from you, but I can't find it now. As you may have noticed, I posted a message on your SpreadFirefox blog asking you to get back in touch; thank you very much for doing so. While we'd be happy for you to place the Firefox logo in "sponsorship style" on your racing car (subject to confirmation of who the other sponsors are), I'm afraid we can't let you use it on merchandise (hats, mugs, t-shirts etc.). One reason for this is that we have an exclusive contract in North America with the Mozilla Store for such things; another is that we'd expect a cut of the profits from any merchandise featuring our logo. We're also concerned about brand dilution - Firefox is a web browser, not a racing team. I apologise if anything else you've been told up to now doesn't match this position. Gerv
