Tested with latest 1.7 win32 installer builds. 200411-3008, -2908, -1308.

All contain only a 2 KB sized dummy file talkback.xpi. During the installation
process (default or with TB) you will get an "Quality Feedback Agent: -214
DOES_NOT_EXIST" error and the installation stops. No normal uninstall possible
(missing entries in remove software). Installation is not completed.
Same for win32 installer 200411-1011.

I guess it is again something like in Bug 243008 and Bug 240234.

The 2004-12-02-06-trunk mozilla-i586-pc-msvc.zip doesn´t contain talkback.

From past experience, If I see a dummy (about 1 k sized) in the windows-xpi
folder, there is no xpi packaged in the download.

BTW, since August, if talkback is packaged in the zip builds, it doesn´t work,
until compreg.dat is deleted once.

NOTE: This mornings builds might not have Talkback b/c of db issues. Try the
next set of builds later today.

This is also happening on Linux installers for 1.7.5

"We're planning a mid-December Mozilla 1.7.5 release ..." without Talkback?

Does anybody know WHY we ship the builds without TB?

I spent some time working on this issue after we got the CDs done and believe
Talkback is being built and packaged as expected again. We should take a look
at today's 1.7 build available at:

  http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/nightly/2004-12-13-10-1.7/

(May still be mirroring out to sites.)

Can we double check that Linux is having this problem on a regular basis? I see in

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/nightly/2004-12-13-07-1.7/linux-xpi/

that the talkback.xpi package is present and what appears to be a healthy 700
kb. It's possible that the 12/02 Linux 1.7 build was just hit by a bad
interaction with the Talkback server and that it normally is able to pull down
the Talkback data it needs for its build.

mozilla-i686-pc-cygwin.zip 13-Dec-2004 19:37 10.9M (from a mirror)

contains all the necessary files, master.ini, qfaservices.dll, qfaservices.xpt,
talkback.cnt, talkback.exe, talkback.hlp, talkback-l10n.ini

Size of talkback.exe is a reasonable 392 kb, not a small dummy.
I didn´t check the behaviour on crash.
I´ve noticed the build is now i686, used to be i586, but didn´t see problems on
my Celeron 333.
Trunk zips are still i586, the talkback.exe size on trunk got reduced to 287kb.
1.7 win32 installer build 2004-12-13-11 contains TB, the xpi file has 300 KB.
Chase, thanks for figuring out this one. I'll leave it to you to mark as fixed.
I'll then mark it verified against the builds from midday 12/13 and/or double
confirm on 12/14 am builds.
