These special groups would be shown at the top of the groups list, and include messages based on certain pre-defined rules. (This can later be potentially expended to include user-defined filters). Example special groups could be "unread non-junk messages", "messages marked for followup", "messages with high priority" etc. A message appearing in one of these special groups would still appear in any group it would normally fit into (for example, a message could be in both "Unread Non-Junk" and "Today" if groups are ordered by date) The options screen would allow each of the pre-defined special groups to be enabled or disabled using a checkbox style control. Such groups would allow users to see at a glance emails that need their attention and/or response, and would make high-volume email accounts much more manageable Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

You mean expanding 'message grouping' (group sort) to work with 'saved search folders' (virtual folders) ? That's bug 267727.
Summary: Add (optinal) "special" message groups → Add (optinal) "special" message groups
(In reply to comment #1) Not really - I'm talking about implementing groups that are a result of a search within an existing folder, not enabling groups when viewing a search result. Besides, that bug seems to be a result of the submitter mistakenly typing into the quick search field thus disabling grouping.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
