People who package their extensions on linux (or even use "make install" when
building it) need a -remove-global-extension, so that they can be run in the
uninstall scripts of RPMs or with "make uninstall". Simply removing the files
on disk causes my Firefox to hang.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Quit firefox
2. Delete the files off the disk as if they were removed from an automated process
3. Restart firefox.

Actual Results:
The menus and such come up, but the UI is "hung". The menus are inoperable, you
can't type in the address bar, etc.

I'm marking this "major" because it's a huge deal for Linux distributors who may
want to install (and remove!) extensions for the whole system.
major is for broken functions. This is an enhancement request.

The lack of -remove-global-extension is also a problem for Milton. Milton's
installer installs a Firefox extension using -install-global-extension, but its
uninstaller has no way to remove the extension.
This probably will be irrelevant when bug 286034 is fixed
Depends on: eminstall
Fixed with patch for bug 286034. Just deleting the extension folder does the trick.
