This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Note that generation and insertion of Table of content is accomplished
accordingly in Nvu 1.0 build 20050620.
Same here in Thunderbird 1.5rc2/Linux
I just experienced the same behavior, whatever the options selected, the fact the mail is empty or not (H1/H2 structure in the body), clicking "ok" does not close the "insert toc" dialog, nor does it insert a toc.

Thunderbird 1.5 RC2 on win 2k
I noticed some errors in the javascript console, when entering the dialog :
-----
Error: syntax error
Source File: chrome://editor/content/EdInsertTOC.js
Line: 347, Column: 4
Source Code:
    else {

-----
Error: Startup is not defined
Source File: chrome://editor/content/EdInsertTOC.xul
Line: 1

-----
And this last one as I clicked "ok" to insert the TOC
-----
Error: BuildTOC is not defined
Source File: chrome://global/content/bindings/dialog.xml
Line: 350
I'm also seeing this behavior in Thunderbird version 1.5 Beta 1 (20050908) on Mac OS X 10.4.3. Specifically, when I try and insert a table of contents into an email compose screen, the TOC dialog box comes up (asking which tag (h1,h2...) to associate with each TOC level), but nothing happens when I click on "ok".
Ignore my previous comment #9, inserting TOC *does* work for me in Thunderbird version 1.0.7 (20050923) on Mac OS X 10.4.3

Confirmed: An existing Table of Contents (TOC) can't be updated or a new TOC inserted with Thunderbird v1.50_RC2 on Windows (XP).
The OK button is being ignored.

Inserting and updating a TOC works however in Thunderbird v1.0X.

It seems to be working in TBird 3.0.3 on windows (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100227 Thunderbird/3.0.3). Maybe this has been fixed?
Er, and I mean to also say it also seems to be working in Seamonkey 2.0.3 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100205 SeaMonkey/2.0.3)
See Comment 13 , I close this for now as wfm.

Reporter, if you still run into this problem while using an recent Build,
