I'm not sure if a separate bug (artwork, etc) is needed, but this issue is spun
off from bug 270477 comment 47 (semi-quoting):

yes, I also noticed this occurs in:

- File dropmenu in Search Messages
- folder dropmenus in Filter Rules
- Choose dialog for Saved Searches
- Create as subfolder dropmenu for Saved Searches

this occurs for the Pinstripe theme on Mac.

however, if this particular issue can be fixed in a cross-platform way, I'll dup
this bug. thanks!

I'm not sure if this patch landed a long-gggg time ago. Anyway newsBlogOverlay.css
 doesn't exist anymore at the directory listed in the patch - "mail/extensions/newsblog/skin/mac/"
