When clicking Tools -> New Message FireFox opens an outlook express window.
However my default mail client is the mozilla suite. When I click Read Mail it
opens mozilla suite mail.

This is not only a huge bug, it's offensive. And it pains me to say something
emotional in a bug report. Sorry.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Mozilla Suite
2. Set Mozilla Suite to default mail client
3. Install Firefox
4. Set Firefox as default browser
5. Click Tools -> New Mail

Actual Results:  
opens outlook express new mail window

Expected Results:  
open mozilla suite new mail window

This is due to a bug in Mozilla Mail, which doesn't register to handle mailto:
for Windows.  It was fixed for Thunderbird but not Mozilla Mail, not sure why. 
As far as I'm aware, Mozilla Mail is the only modern mail client which doesn't
do this.

There is/was a workaround link posted in the MailNews bug.
