WFM. Please retest and make sure that's not an extension or third-party software preventing Firefox from accessing GMail.
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 I get the exact same error message: The file /gmail?view=page&name=js&ver=4ff499617444ed15 cannot be found. Please check the location and try again. This has been going on for two days and I can't figure out what caused it to start. I tried uninstalling a few extensions I had installed recently, I cleared the browser cache and rebooted the computer and still cannot login using FF. IE works just fine. Here is a blogger report of the same problem though he fixed it by clearing his cache. This did not work in my case: http://strategize.blogspot.com/2005/04/wierd-gmail-problem.html I may have to try uninstalling and reinstalling FF though this is a pain because I have a lot of extensions installed that I will have to reinstall. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to gmail.com Actual Results: I got the alert message saying file cannot be found. Expected Results: Gone to my Gmail inbox.

I get the same issue when trying to access gmail. In addition, at random times, php scripts and/or images on my site refuse to load and I get the 'file not found' message. Yet if I go into IE it works just fine and clearly, there is nothing wrong with the files or gmail. I thought someone had hacked my site when it started happening, but I checked the logs and scanned for virii and spyware and I got nothing. The only logical conclusion is its a Firefox issue. And it is very disturbing.

I can confirm this bug. There was already a topic about it and someone closed it. I upgraded from 1.06 to 1.07 and I am getting the bug even more now. Repruduction: 1. go to gmail.com. 2. log in. 3. the big shows up. Results: The file /gmail?view=page&name=js&ver=4ff499617444ed15 can not be found. I have no 3rd party addons or skins that could be effecting Firefox. Expected Results: Open gmail inbox. Note: The bug goes away after I restart Firefox, but shortly after a restart, it returns.

I can confirm this. I get the same results. The bug goes away after I restart Firefox 1.07, but returns shortly after, and does not go away until I restart it again. It is also preventing php scripts from my website from loading. The same scripts however, load perfectly fine on other browsers such as IE6 and Netscape.

I've never seen this and, really, it sounds like a Gmail error, not a Firefox one. If you're still seeing this running Firefox 2.0.0.3 or later with a new profile, please file a new bug detailing your steps for reproducing it as well as any relevant information about your system. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

Okay, this was a problem that happened for about three days in total, more than 2 years ago. I assume that Google was changing code, and that was for a short time incompatible with my Firefox settings or extensions. I have never had a problem with GMail since, and this probably should never have been submitted as a bug in the first place. Can someone lock this?
