Maybe a search dialog like the default one in Firefox could be used, and it would execute the default browser with the search string needed. The search should either contact a central site like http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/holidays.html, or a generic search engine capable of finding ICS files directly. if you subscribe remote calendar you can search it as the local one but you probably would like to add to Sunbird web services which is really huge feature
Whiteboard: [qa discussion needed]
I think this is something we would definitely want to provide in the product, and I was a little surprised there wasn't already a bug for it. There are related bugs to this issue: bug 355270, bug 306495, and bug 356569. Even if our "search for remote calendars" just brought the user to a static webpage that contained many links to many providers of calendars, that would be better than having nothing at all. Therefore, I will confirm this bug. This is something that should also be in Lightning as well, so I am going to move the component of this to "Internal Components".
