User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041201 Camino/0.8.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041201 Camino/0.8.2 When I drag the Camino application from the application folder to the dock as you normally do for quick access to frequently used programs, it will not launch. Might be related to not being able to set Camino as default web browser Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Drag Camino app bundle from the applications folder to the dock 2. click on icon that appears on dock Actual Results: Camino doesn't launch Expected Results: Camino should have launched Since I cannot launch it from the dock or set it as the default web browser I will switch from Camino to Firefox and tell others to do the same until the bug is fixed. I am using 10.2.8 with all the security updates.

anything displayed on the OS console? this works for me. fwiw, threats about switching browsers won't make us fix this any faster.

It wasn't a threat. I did switch to Firefox and now that they changed the theme I'll stay, so don't fix it. I don't care. I was just trying to be helpful by submitting the bug so that more people don't have the same problem and give up the browser for the same reason. Think about it - if you had to go to your applications folder to launch your browser and couldn't get to it any other way, how useful would it be to you.

I guess you mean the Console application in the Utilities folder. This displays a log - not really a console. Nothing was added to the console log about Camino after I tried to launch it from the dock. Firefox works fine on both launching from the dock and launching html files as the deafult browser, so I think this is Camino specific. Also .8.1 and back as far as .7 never had this problem, so this must be related to something new that was fixed/added to the latest minor release.

did you drag it from the disk image to the dock, then unmount the disk image? if that's the case the finder can't find the reference that you've unmounted. try again just dragging it from your applications folder or your desktop. that seems the mostly likely culprit to me.

Yes, I dragged the app bundle from the disk image to the applications folder and then from the applications folder to the dock. I know how to install programs on a Mac.

you would be surprised how many don't. trying to get to the bottom of this, please bear with us.
Hans't been updated in quite a while, and I know for a fact that this all works perfectly well on all machines I have tried. Marking WFM. Re-open as needed.

Nightly build works fine now on both the dock launching and setting as default browser on 10.2.8 with all security updates. I can't recommend someone use a nightly build. I will recommend it again and post on my website in my recommended Mac software that it works fine if you release another point release with the update. But I will now use the nightly build then as my default browser on my mom's machine and mine even if you don't.
