User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041128 Firefox/1.0 (Debian package 1.0-4) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041124 Thunderbird/0.9 MVL helped me sort this one out: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=177309 Thunderbird-cal 20041124 and Sunbird 0.02b were both built without FTP support. He said that he's already added/turned it on in Sunbird, but it still needs to be done for Thunderbird calendar to enable FTP for remote calendar publishing. I noted that Firefox/0.9 20041124-cal and Mozilla 1.7 calendars both handle FTP just fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to use FTP for remote calendars publishing. 2. Set the URL to ftp://user:pwd@hostname/path/calendar.ics, or the same without the user:pwd@ login information. 3. Actual Results: Any attempt at using FTP for remote calendars will just sit with the circular arrows spinning. Expected Results: With FTP enabled in TB-cal, it should behave just like Firefox-cal from the same build dates does.
Duplicate of bug 253567. Thunderbird does not contain FTP support, so an extension cannot simply turn it on.

While comment 3 is probably right, we should handle any attempts to use ftp in lightning. probably with an error message?? Thoughts?
(In reply to comment #1) > Duplicate of bug 253567. > > Thunderbird does not contain FTP support, so an extension cannot simply turn it on. Then how does Addressbooks Synchronizer ( https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/2533/ ) do it?
On tb2.0 + lightning0.7 remote ftp calendars work just fine, both on linux and windows. On trunk (and lightning trunk) it doesn't (at least on linux).
Depends on: 427203
Can we close this bug now that FTP has been enabled for Thunderbird trunk builds (bug 427203)?
I think we can.
