the back and forward icons, as well as stop, home and refresh, tend to have the
words from the alt menus in them.  When you run your mouse over them, the words
(such as File, Tools, Edit and View) disappear, but then reappear when new tabs
or windows are opened, or if you mouse back over them.  Sometimes, you get the
ghost of the other icons on top as well - the forward button has the ghost of
the back button, the refresh has the ghost of the stop button, and the greyed
out stop button has a blue refresh ghost superimposed over it.

I expect that the icons would not have ghost images over them, correct or not.

Have you tried uninstalling firefox, removing all user profiles and reinstalling? 
My guess is that this has been caused by a rogue theme or by the chrome folder
becoming corrupt or something.

Doing the above should hopefully resolve the problem.

Reporter (Jason M Temple), has confirmed that reinstalling from scratch to the latest version of firefox 
did indeed solve his problem.

He confirmed this via email and if anyone would like a copy of the correspondence please email me and
