User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

If a maximized Firefox window is mimimized and then a new tab opened by clicking
a link in another application, Page Down seems to be dead, but I think it is
actually associated with a previously opened, now background tab.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firefox.
2. Make Firefox the default browser
3. Set the Tabbed Browsing option "Open links from other applications in:" to "a
new tab in the most recent window.
4. Close Firefox.
5. Open Firefox to any web page. The default start page will do.
6. If Firefox is maximized, restore it.
7. Maximize Firefox window.
8. Minimize Firefox window.
9. Click link in another application (in my case the link is in an email in
   the Eudora email application).

Actual Results:
Firefox window comes to foreground maximized and opens page corresponding to
link in email in a new tab. Page Down doesn't have any effect in the newly
opened tab.
It appears to be affecting the previously opened tab in the background.

Expected Results:
Page Down should page forward in the newly opened tab.

I am forced to report this against the 1.0 release because the recent builds I've
downloaded don't run at all on my system. The most recent one I tried doesn't
even open a window when I try to run it, but that's the subject of this report.
Do any keys work in the new tab?

Yes. Specifically, at least Alt-D highlights the content of the location bar
and Ctrl-W closes the tab.

This looks exactly like bug 249136. If you click on the new tab, page down then
works, right?
No, Page Up/Down is permanently wired to the tab that had the focus before the
external link opened a new tab. No amount of clicking the content or switching
to other tabs will send it anywhere but to that tab. Close that tab, and you
just don't have any Page Up/Down anymore.

For bonus screwiness, reproducible at least five times in a row, the tab that
gets the Page Up/Down focus is also in a screwy state for textboxes: typing in
an input there adds the character to the input, and also does typeahead find on
that character. I've seen some of the random bugs for that at times, but this is
the first time I've seen it that reproducible, and on a page that has never once
triggered it for me before.

Still sounds similar. I wonder if my patch for bug 249136 would fix it. If
anyone who experiences this bug could test my patch by doing your own build,
that'd be great.
Bad Phil, reading symptoms rather than looking at the patch and the probable
cause: on second reading, I think you're right. I'll try to get a working
Windows build environment set up this weekend to see.

As reported by Phil Ringnalda, no, in this case, clicking in the new tab does
not cause Page Down to work. However, I think I've also experienced but 249136.
I'll comment further there on that.
