Maybe I am missing something, but it seems impossible to download code from this
page with Firefox (or IE). No matter what I do, all the files are converted to
html before they are downloaded to me. I also get a .html extenxion I cannot get
rid of.

What good is a code page if you cannot download the code as code?
try adding ?raw=1 to the end of the url?

That works, but is really a pain because then I have to cut and paste the text
into a file. Surely there should be a way to right click these links and
download them as raw data.

File|Save Page As, on the ?raw=1 url
