Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0 Windows OE has a timeout for server contact. It is currently set at 60 seconds. This is good since the ISP's mail server can be slow. I can't find a timeout in Thunderbird, let alone a way to reset it. Perhaps that is why I usually get a "Failed to connect with server ~.~." message. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on Get Mail. 2. I don't seem to get message on the automatic mail pickup, but then neither does any mail seem to come through automatically. Actual Results: The error message above appeared. It disappeared after clicking OK. Expected Results: It should have downloaded mail waiting long enough to accomodate a slow server. OE does. I don't know what "typing about:buildconfig into your URL bar" means.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. Someone emailed me with a description of a config file that allowed a change to the timeout while waiting for email from the server. I still think you should add the feature to the GUI as well as importing the setting from OE. At least mention the config setting in HELP. The server was experiencing slow downloading at the time, but has since recovered.

Confirming the bug. In Thunderbird mailnews.tcptimeout pref specifies server timeout (UI was removed in Bug 451620 ). The current default is 100s. This pref is not settable per account (as in OE) so it might be debatable to import this setting (if there is more than 1 account configured in OE than from which one ?) without further enhancements to the mentioned pref.
