Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: version 1.0 (20041206)

I sometimes get Thunderbird into a mode where characters typed in the
quicksearch field won't insert (don't display, don't update search string).
They activate a menu shortcut instead. For example, a "C" typed in quicksearch
brings up the "mark messages as read from" as if the focus had been in the three
panes of the top window.

Exiting and restarting Thunderbird fixes the problem. I've been able to
reporduce once after the first incident.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Thunderbird
2. Click a message header in the header pane
3. Type C to bring up the "mark messages as read from"
4. Hit escape to dismiss it
5. Hit Command-K to focus the quicksearch field
6. Type C - if it shows in the quicksearch field, no recreation
7. Hit backspace to clear quicksearch
8. go to step 2 and try again. It took me a dozen tries to reproduce
Actual Results:
Typing C in quicksearch resulted in "mark messages as read from" dialog (and at
least one other key seemed to do a similar menu accellerator based on seeing
some flashing on the menu). Other keys inserted as expected.

Expected Results:
All keys typed should have inserted into the quicksearch field.
