Actually it's my fault, blame on me. As Phil Ringnalda correctly reported, pt-BR FlasGot 0.5.5 locale is not correctly encoded (UTF8-Y instead of UTF-8), this causing the described symptoms. Luckily enough, 0.5.5 is not yet published on update.mozilla.org, hence I've just uploaded on FlashGot web-site a patched 0.5.5 (http://www.flashgot.net/getit) and putting up an auto-update route to 0.5.6 for Portoguese speaking users. Closing this bug as "INVALID".
