In Mail & Newsgroupt Account settings | Server Settings | Advanced | SMTP tab it
is only possible to set a single SMTP server.

It should be possible to specify a list in the order to be used.

The same logic should be applied in the Outgoing SMTP server section in case any
or all accounts are set to use the default setting.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
With an SMTP server dedicated to an account the sending of messages will fail if
that server is not reachable [even though other valid servers are available].
Actual Results:
Sending of messages fail even though valid SMTP servers are available.

Expected Results:
It should be possible to send emails via the currently reachable SMTP server
when configured to do so.

This issue has been raised and recognised many times before but is still not
resolved.

When will it be possible to specify a list of SMTP servers so that the first
available will be used.
Severity: normal → enhancement

The original bug report 52384 dates back to the year 2000.

How do we know when this problem is planned to be fixed?
Another few years has gone by and still no fix in site to getting the dynamic action for selecting an SMTP server.
