Short wish: please introduce an "Advanced Search" feature that exposes the full
complexity of the search functions (seen in the config files while tweaking a
virtual folder) to the user. This would include: 
* a manual selection of which folders to search
* a more complex interface to generate search terms with mixed clauses ("AND",
"OR", "NOT", etc.)

Hm, this bug seems to be about Advanced Search, although at least in Thunderbird, Advanced Search, Filters and Saved searches (Smart folders) seem to have the same UI.
