after using the java plugin (say the network speed test at ns1.etheric.net)
accel T for a new tab opens TWO new tabs, accel N opens TWO new windows. Even
worse accel W closes TWO tabs! I've not noticed this under Linux, just Mac.
I do have accel mapped to control not CMD but don't believe this is the problem.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. goto http://ns1.etheric.net/
2. hit accel T (usually CMD T)
3.
Actual Results:
two new tabs popped up
Expected Results:
I only expected one tab to pop up

I can confirm this bug, and also add the following observations:
- once this happens, the accel key for quit (CMD-Q) doesn't work anymore (thank
goodness, since I fear the double-action would quit Firefox AND the next app to
pop into focus!);
- I have never seen this happen on PC, so to add to the original poster's
observations, it appears to be just Mac;
- I do not have my acceleration key changed from the default at all (e.g., the
original poster has changed his/hers to control, but mine is the default CMD/Apple);
- I never traced this to the Java plugin explicitly, but that may be because
it's never entirely clear when the Java plugin is loaded, so I may have just
missed some small bit of Java code loaded in a non-visible tab.
Lastly, I can say that this is a VERY frustrating bug; I've lost quite a bit of
work over time as a result of it (whenever it closes a tab that has content on
which I'm working). It's made me use Safari for much of my Real Work, which is
a shame, but a necessary shame.

Does anyone know *why* this is happening?

I haven't a clue, but still have my open offer to help however I can! The fact that this has gone this long
without anything makes me frustrated; in fact, I'm using Safari right now because I got fed up with
Firefox doing the double-key thing this morning.

To add another website that always causes the bug to rear its head:
http://www.swcc.com/index2.html
I'm curious -- since there was one site before that always reproduced the bug,
and now another, is there any hope of seeing any activity on this?

We're in the process of removing support for plugins (bug 1677160), so I think this bug is irrelevant now.
