when upgrading from FF .8 to 1.0 the installer overwrote/deleted all of my old
book marks rather than include them in the new install. there should have at
least been a prompt letting me know that i was going to be lossing data (bookmarks)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install over top of FF .8 without importing
2.
3.

Actual Results:
lost all my book marks

Expected Results:
a prompt informign the user that the old bookmarks where about to be
overwriten/deleted/lost
You didnt lost your old bookmarks.

Its because 0.8 has a different location for profiles. And since you didnt
import them, you didnt get them. But your old 0.8 profile is still there.
Simplest would be to just import them, via the /File/import dialog.
