(In reply to comment #0) > Apparently successfully installed Macromedia Flash Player 7 specifically for > Mozilla 1.7.3 but webpage components dependent on Flash still will not download. > Flash works fine with IE. Why do you assume Flash was successfully installed for Mozilla? Is Flash working on some websites, but missing on others? Can you give an example URL? Does about:plugins show an entry that flash is installed? Just type about:plugins into the Loacation Bar, or click Help Menu -> About Plug-ins. Did you install using an exe-package, or just unzipping the zip-package? You can retry using the xpi-package from netscape 7.2, see http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html#Flash I assume installing by left-click doesn´t work, as that link isn´t from a white-listed site. Afaik, only mozilla.org and mozdev are whitelisted, and the link to flash.xpi is from netscape, as you can see in the dialog. Right-click, 'Save As' to somewhere, and when download has finished, use the menu File->Open File to install the xpi from where you saved it. A dialog comes up, asking for confirmation to install and showing a warning, and you have plenty of time to read it. You can 'Cancel' instantly, but the 'Install' button can only be clicked after a about 3 seconds delay. Please add a comment, if Flash was installed and not working, and please give an example URL. If Flash wasn´t installed and you can solve the problem with the link above, tell so and resolve the bug as 'Worksforme'

The 'now playing' ticker won't show up with Firefox, but if you change the URL from 'noflash=true' to 'noflash=false' then it works.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. The latest beta releases can be obtained from: Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/ Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5beta1.html Seamonkey: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/
Hopefully I can add a few more helpful details to this bug I first noticed it in the firefox nightlies about 7 days ago or around there. Before this point all flash-based sites behaved perfectly for me. I have since noticed two sites in particular that suffer from this problem: www.adultfriendfinder.com & www.alt.com . Both sites involve logins and passwords, so an account must be created. Once inside, you should go to the chat page and try to go to any of the chat rooms that are based in flash (click "flash" beside any of the room names). At this point you are prompted to download flash 7.0 or better (despite the version of flash that you have). After getting the latest Flash 8 this message continues to show up when accessing the chats. I should mention that the problem still exists in the latest nightly, but the site performs as it should inder internet explorer. It is also worht pointing out that the other flash-based sites I have tried (other than these two) behave fine under firefox.
This is also true on Suse 10.1 running on an AMD 64 running Firefox 2.0b1, sites with a flash component will not play the flash file. Flash is installed and works perfectly when visiting the same sites with Opera.
