RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 233434

Details

I miss the 'expected/actual results' and 'steps to reproduce' entry fields in
the bug entry, as present prior to the upgrade... is there a way to get them
back, or could such a way be implemented?
for the time being add &format=guided to the url

confirming, tested product: mozilla application suite. steps taken: demote
timeless@bemail.org to not have editbugs/canconfirm. i get the standard format
which was historically reserved for people with canconfirm.

I bet you this is one and the same issue with bug 233434.
Dave, this sounds like the problem you've described in bug 233434, but this
doesn't sound like the problem Ian described there. Maybe there's a
blocking/dependency relationship?
Hi,
Can we leave it the way it is.
I like the advanced form format better.
It works better for me.
Summary: RFE: What happened to extra textfields in bug entry? → What happened to extra textfields in bug entry?
It's smaller, but that's the only advantage AFAICT. Other than that, it makes it
more annoying and less consistent if you want to use all the 'helper fields'.

I'm all for making it a remembered option if that's wanted. Maybe we could add a
link to the page to switch and remember the last setting, like is now done with
search. I'm happy so long as this functionality doesn't disappear entirely
and/or require me to remember to manually add some parameter to the cgi script.

Hi,
Is this really causing problems?
If not why fix it?

Yes, it makes it hard to triage bug reports from people, since most people
always forget some info in their bug reports. Also the "Steps to reproduce:" are
a good help for bug triagers. And this guided bug entry form makes bug reports
more clear, since every new bug report has a standardised format then.
Hi,
O.K.
However I still think that we should make it an opition thing.
I like the Advanced form better then the Guided.
If people like to use the advanced form why prevent them?
The Advanced form is the default for people with canconfirm or editbugs. The
guided form is the default for everyone else. People with canconfirm or editbugs
can choose guided anyway using &format=guided, e.g. by clicking the big link on
the b.m.o. front page.

Is there actually a bug here?

Gerv
I think the bug is that the "new" link in the 'user toolbar' that shows up on
every page is incorrectly defaulting to 'advanced' for regular people. The home
page link seems OK, but I personally find the 'actions->new' link more convenient.

Again, I'd be all for simply making a preference to change the behavior of this
link.

(Also, it looks like the homepage URL may have been edited as a work-around, as
per comment #2.)
Hi,
O.k.
I still think taht we should keep it broken.
I like the advanced format better.
Hi,
This seems fixed now.
Confirming, as it's my bug. Does anyone know if making the mode a preference is
on the RFE list?

This was a mozilla.org-specific situation and nothing to do with Bugzilla itself
