Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 If you can't see the connections setting sub-panel and there is no scroll bar to indicate that part of the display is not visible, it can be very difficult to find where to change proxy settings. This may be because I increased font size on account of my presbyopia (long sight). If the panel has a fixed size that ignores the font size that's a serious bug especiallhy as it leads to an important preference option being hidden. I much prefer the mozilla preferences panel, with the expandable menu on the left. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Edit -> preferences -> General. 2.Look in vain for connection settings 3.Use mosuse to stretch the box vertically 4. Missing bit becomes visible Actual Results: No connection setting option visible till I stretched the window. No scroll bar to indicate this Expected Results: I expected at the very least that a scroll bar would indicate that some text is missing. But it would be better not to have to use a scroll bar: the section should be visible by default: it is not a huge panel and could easily be made taller.
I tried my best to recreate this but in vain. If you can give the exact steps with the exact settings I can try to do that.

(In reply to comment #1) > I tried my best to recreate this but in vain. If you can give the exact steps > with the exact settings I can try to do that. I have done some more experimenting and find that the bug turns up only on my laptop, not the two desktop machines I use (all running linux). I had not noticed that it was only the laptop because all my changes of proxy settings occur on the laptop, for obvious reasons. I now know how to turn the bug on or off. Because of my eyesight I need to increase the default font size, and I had this in my firefox userChrome.cs * { font-size: 14pt } If I remove it the problem goes away (i.e. the proxy sub-panel is visible when I select the General part of the preferences panel.) If I restore the font specification the bug shows up. I presume most people use the default font setting so they do not have the problem. Thanks for checking.
