I don't think there's already a way to do this, but I definitely think it would be valuable. I would like to be able to remove attachments from items I have stored in Thunderbird folders. This would come in handy when someone sends you a huge attachment, you make use of it, and would like to keep the message around but not the huge attachment. The only other (reasonable) option is to just delete the whole message, which I'd rather not do. Furthermore, I guess it might be nice that if you do use the 'delete attachment' feature, Thunderbird could place some sort of metatag in the message which indicates that there originally was an attachment in the message, perhaps it's name and file size, etc. Thanks!
