Build: 2004112206 (1.8a5) When clicking on a icon to play a windows media player file from the site www.rtl.nl/actueel/rtlnieuws, the window that pops up keeps empty. After right clicking in the window and chosing the error details, it says: Cannot open. Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again. (Error=80070002) Website works correct under IE. Is this an Moz-bug or is the website coded with non standard javascripts??

Only way I have gotten Windows media player to work is by opening the page source and finding the URl of th file they want you to see / view and add it into the ADD URL to the windows Media player and click on the "Browse" button !
Embedded windows media players don't work on any of the websites I've visited today. My operating system is ME.

One of the site > pages is: http://www.terravitahomes.com/slideshow/2232589.htm Don't know if this will work for anyone else...not sure why it worked for me, but try this: Go to your programs menu and instead of opening Firefox, open the Safe Mode version. Go to the page where you were trying to view the Windows Media embedded item. When I did this, it worked!!!!!! Then I closed the browser and went back into Firefox (not the Safe Mode version) and went to the web page again and it worked! I am confused, but not complaining as I can now see the slideshows and the problem is solved. I guess the Firefox fairy visited me today ;-)

It works well in Mozilla 1.6 (with the ActiveX plugin) but it does not work anymore in version 1.7 whatever I try.

Try this, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/version64/plugin.aspx and download and execute the file. It will install windows media player for firefox.
