Details
On my system (MacOS 10.2.8, Camino 2004121208), I cannot drag a text clipping to a textarea (like this one). When I try, Camino tries and fails to open the clipping as an HTML file. It works in Firefox, which makes this a Camino-specific problem.

Hmmm.. if I drag the text off of camino (say the content of comment 0) and then drag it right back to the same page it seems to work ok, but if I then try and drag it to another page, or visit another page and then hit back it fails in all cases.

Oh! I didn't try that case. But I can't get it to work at all, now that I have--could depend on the OS version.
I see the same thing as comment 0 using Camino 2004121208 (v0.8+) on Mac OS X 10.3.6. I dragged comment 0 to my desktop and then tried to drag it into this text field (with and without the text field having focus), I get the "green plus" and then Camino attempts to load the clipping as if it were a page. Indeed, Firefox grabs the text from the clipping, as expected. Oh, wait, is this a specific sub-case of bug 225862? I think it is but would prefer a second opinion....

I don't understand how this is a duplicate of 225862. That bug tracks the problem of drag-n-drop within a TEXTAREA. This bug tracks the problem of dragging clippings from external applications into TEXTAREA or INPUT elements. If anything, this is a duplicate of 168378. cl
(In reply to comment #5) > I don't understand how this is a duplicate of 225862. Because bug 225862 tracks text areas not being registered as drop zones
