Hi,

with any new version of any browser with Gecko engine I always try this very
annoying bug. And it's still present. Somebody reported it before some time,
and nothing happens. But I found some new information about it, so it could
help to fix it. Sorry I'm making new entry, but I didn't find this bug in
Bugzilla.

To see the problem, enter http://www.idnes.cz with flash plugin. You will see
very heavy and fast blinking of flash ads over the text content in the left
site. It stops after the page is fully loaded. Somebody thought it is blinking
because page is still loading and the engine puts flash objects to the left top
corner, because it don't know at first where to put them. But I think it's not
true and problem is somewhere else.

I made very small testcase, download it at
http://sweb.cz/alen123/testcase.zip . When you unpack it, you will see two
files - flash 250x300.swf and test1.htm. Open test1.htm in any gecko browser
and reload more times to see the blinking when page is loading (I tried last
mozilla and firefox on win XP, but the same bug is in all versions I know on
windows, probably on linux too). Then open test1.htm and comment the
document.write line after "BLINKING BUG SHOWS" and uncomment document.write
line after "NO BLINKING". And the bug is gone. Why? The size of the image
should not affect whole page or other objects. Anyway, when you put some big
image without his size set instead of flash, it works ok, the blinking is not
there. Doesn't matter which line is commented and uncommented.

Anyone who understand how gecko works can try this testcase and see if it can
be fixed somehow? It would be great to have it fixed, because idnes.cz is Czech
big news server (like small cnn.com) and many people, who tried mozilla are
switching back to IE, because this blinking every time they try to read some
news is VERY annoying.
I tried latest mozilla (Mozilla 1.8a6 - Gecko/20050111) and it works ok now.
Great job, it's finally usable browser :)
