The following problem can reproduced in Mozilla 1.7.3 and Firefox 1.0.

I have a Web mail account and always use the Web interface to edit my email.
When I open a very large mail (for instance an automatically generated report
mail) with several hundred lines, it is not possible to scroll to the end of the
document. The first anomaly is that lines start to get cut horizontally, further
scrolling will in the end leave the text box completely empty. Scrolling back
towards the top at some point brings back a correct display. The problem does
not affect the surroundings of the text box: everything is displayed correctly,
only the text box contents gets srewed up.

This problem also occurs when I patiently wait until the mail has been
completely loaded. When I view the same mail with Microsoft's Internet Explorer,
there is no problem at all. I say this in order to make clear that the problem
has most probably nothing to do with the programming on the server but with the
client browser.

Reporter, would you care to post the HTML of a page on which you are seeing the
problem as an attachment to this bug?
[Use "Save Page As..." from the File menu to save the page, and then attach the
saved file to this bug using the "Create New Attachment" link, above. Make sure,
of course, that there is no personal/sensitive information in the page you're
attaching].

Without a URL or HTML with which the problem can be reproduced, it would be
difficult to confirm (and if necessary, fix) the problem you are reporting.
I've uploaded this file on specific request. It is the "saved as" of an HTML
page showing a mail which was too long to be displayed correctly by Mozilla.
It's anonymized by altering certain names and terms but not changed with
respect to its functionality. The file was greater than 300 KB so it had to be
zipped (WinZIP format).
Attachment #168892 - Attachment mime type: text/html → application/zip
Confirming this with Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US;
rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20041216 Firefox/1.0+.
The symptoms I'm seeing are actually worse than in the original report: the
scrollbar freezes at some point, and elements of the browser UI (such as the tab
bar and back/forward buttons) become unusable.

A minimal testcase is needed here.

Based on the attached HTML, this is a duplicate of bug 215055 : The problem here
is the <div> with a style of overflow:auto, which contains a large number of lines.
