Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 I created the filter (subject, begins with, "CVS Checkin to"). When a new message comes in whose subject begins with "CVS checkin to", the filter does not trigger. (Note the difference in case.) But if I run the filter manually from the menu it does work. If I change the filter to (subject, begins with, "CVS checkin to"), it will trigger on new mail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a filter (subject, begins with, "CVS Checkin to") 2. Recieve a message whose subject begins with "CVS checkin to" (Note the difference in case.) Actual Results: Filter was not applied to new mail. Filter is applied when running filter from the menu. Expected Results: Filter should have been applied to new mail. (Or at least be consistent with behavior when run from menu.) Other details: IMAP server, running on linux Fedora Core 1, Thunderbird version 1.0 (20041206)
I have the same problem. I don't see why filters should be case sensitve! At least they should offera an option to choose if we want it to be. For me the filter is case sensitive even if run it manually (tb 1.0 on Linux)

I am unable to replicate this on Thunderbird 1.0.2 running on POP folders on Linux The filters are case sensitive whether run on mail retrieval or later. But see bug 239167 ("Filter in messages for "to: or cc:" is case sensitive") which is a Thunderbird bug marked as a duplicate of bug 202558 ("Begins With" and "Ends With" is case sensitive (Mail Views and Filters)" which says it was fixed by the patch in bug 254740 and has been verified on a thunderbird build from 20050311: (from bug 202558) > Patch for bug 254740 has fixed the sensitivity issue for these match modes, for most applications: filtering and quicksearch, and searching local folders, will all work as expected. Searching IMAP folders is a different problem.

Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it.
