The View drop-down menu located above the mailbox and mail view panels is really
useful but I can't "tab to it". A key-binding to focus this widget would be
really nice.

I can tab to it just fine.

Using version 1.0 (20041206) on WinXP.

D'oh. Should have checked that this was a problem across systems before
submitting the bug from my Linux machine. Tabbing works fine on Linux, but not
in Mac OS X, which is where I first noticed it. Have attempted to change the OS
field for the bug accordingly.
