Details

Create a folder, named 'x'. Create a subfolder of x, named 'y'. Rename 'x' to 'x...'. Note everything looks good. Close app. Open app. Folder renamed 'x...' now appears as 'x', subfolder gone! Rename 'x' to 'x...'. Subfolder 'y' reappears. I would suggest either fixing this, or not allowing the rename in the first place. When I first saw this, I wigged out a bit and thought all the messages were deleted. Users who are not aware of where Thunderbird keeps local mail might be similarly wigged. I'd keep that in mind when assigning a priority to this. Before simply saying, "don't user .'s", I want to point out that I came across this as I was using '...' in my folder names as an ellipsis. I had several mailing lists that had the same prefix. So, the parent folder was 'prefix...' and the subfolders had the subproject titles as their names. Now, I don't think this is an outlandish way to organize folders, although there may be something in a specification somewhere that forbids using .'s in folder names. In that case I shouldn't be able to rename the folder as I did anyway.
