User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 I built a web search tool from flash instead of html. It's located on the right near the top of the page. It works, but the mouse pointer doesn't change (remains an arrow) and I never can get a cursor in the input field. Still, once I click it I can input text and everything else works okay. This problem does not occur in IE6. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just try clicking the flash edit field. Nothing happens. 2. 3. Actual Results: no cursor in edit field and mouse pointer doesn't change for text. Expected Results: Should have blinking cursor in edit field and mouse should change to text bar when hovering over typed text. It's worth noting that with IE, my "Yahoo Personal Site Search" generates a generic results page. Firefox however, correctly opens my custom results page. I have no clue why IE won't open it. I must assume that it's something to do with how the two browsers communicate with Yahoo's server. As I'm still learning flash, any tips here are appreciated for getting IE to open the correct page. The techno-weenies at Yahoo know even less than I do! Thanks and God Bless - Alan Burkhart

I just updated FF and still have no blinking caret with a Flash text field. Also, the mouse pointer doesn't change to indicate that it's hovering over a text field. It remains an arrow. If I click inside the Flash text field with FF, I can still type in it, but the caret (or cursor, if you prefer) isn't present. I can type, backspace, etc but the caret is never visible. To see the bug, you can visit my homepage. I used Flash instead html to create a websearch. http://www.alanburkhart.com/index.html

Sometimes missing cursor in a textfield, or even doesn't allow a textefield to receive special characters that you must type with a combination of keys : for instance [Alt-Gr]+2 which sould provide a @ simply result in a "2".
