This happens in both Firefox 1.0 and Thunderbird 1.0 built from current ports on
FreeBSD 4.9 with the gnome window manager: when you click on a drop down menu,
both the menu title and the selected menu item turn white.  I'm guessing the
text is white too, as all you see is a white bar.

A "me too," but on Linux.  Vanilla gnome 2.8.2, built with gcc-3.4.3.  Here's my

I'm not sure if this is the same issue, since I don't have the exact problem. The thing I do notice is that Firefox seems to apply part of the theme incorrectly. The top menu in all my application have white text, except in Firefox where the text is black.

The issue doesn't seem to persistent though. I have this issue with the default settings of the 'New Wave' theme. If I customize and choose the 'New Wave Dark Menus', the menu text in Firefox also turn white.

Arnold, please file a new bug for your issue. It is not related to this bug report.

Alan, do you still see this problem with a recent version of Firefox? If yes, please also run a test with Firefox 3.5 beta 4.

Sorry, I haven't used a gui on FreeBSD in many years, having switched to OSX for my desktop.  I was checking with some other friends that might, but no luck.  I suppose if it'll help, I could throw up a quick vm and test it...

Somebody else noticed the gnome menu font color issue as well. It is reported as bug 496454.

Arnold, your problem is probably the one which is covered by bug 496454. The original report can still be another issue. We should reset the status to incomplete until the original reporter gives us feedback. Sorry for that.
