User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 One of the most useful features of MacSOUP (the offline newsreader I use) is the ability to lock a posting and prevent it's removal. I would like to see this feature implemented throughout Thunderbird. The way I would make use of it would not only be in Thunderbird's Newsreader features, but with RSS to save pointers to various important news items and with e-mail as well. I subscribe to several mailing lists and have filters to auto-move incoming messages to a mailing list to a folder with the name of the mailing list. Most of the incoming messages to a mailing list can be deleted, but occasionally I want to save certain ones. Since I tend to Select All (Cmd-A) messages in a folder and then press the delete key to clear out a folder, I need to manually move messages I want to save to yet another folder called <message list name>-save. It would be far easier to simply lock the message to prevent deletion after I have selected all of the messages and pressed the delete key. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/prevent-delete/ purports to provide this. I haven't tested it
(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #6) > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/prevent-delete/ purports > to provide this. I haven't tested it I tested it. Unfortunately the "prevent delete" addon does not work properly; protect the message only on some situations. If the protected message is selected together with others not protected, the addon allows the elimination. The developer is aware about the bugs at a long time but will not fix it. Now that the developments of major changes for Thunderbird are almost finished, is it not time to implement the functionality natively?
