Users of Firefox using versions 1.0PR and older, are currently encouraged to
update to "download the latest version of the Firefox Preview Release (Firefox
0.10.1)" from their redirected default homepage (See Bug URL.)
They should rather be encouraged to either apply the security fix if using 1.0PR
or otherwise upgrade to Firefox 1.0 Final.
In fact, if more security bugs were squished between 0.10.1 and Firefox 1.0 it
doesn't make sense to ask them to upgrade to anything other than 1.0 Final.
This bug was previously marked INVALID, see bug 271517. However, I think we
should fix this. It would be trivial to make it read slightly different, only
encouraging people to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox (linking to
/products/firefox/).

In my opinion we should make such notes more time-independent in the future and
fix existing.
