Details
It takes at least ten times as long to save a copy of an image that has already been downloaded for display as it does using IE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! Evidently there is something fundamentally amiss with the way that this software is architected. I don't understand the specifics, nor do I care. What I do know is that as long as the long-standing problem persists, this software is nothing but a joke. It is an unacceptable situation. The Mozilla browser and everything else that goes with it will never be taken seriously until the proponents of this endeavor exhibit the nominal honesty for them to acknowledge this problem and to admit that it must be solved. Until it is solved, the whole thing is utterly useless, and amounts to nothing more than a lot of hot air. Which is very unfortunate, since the only other alternative is Microsoft's ****. I guess what it boils down to is a choice between the lesser of two piles of ****.

No reason to shout. Reporter, do you have meny old entries in the Download Windos. If you do, can you clean them up (remove the old ones) ? That should speed up the behaviour of the Download manager considerably : bug 159107.

Severity: critical → normal
i was going to report a related bug/enhancement. when doing "save image as...," firefox seems to redownload the image, instead of saving the copy that's already downloaded. i would think it's a major issue...
...may be because somehow the server specifies no cache or something like that?

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
