On many ocassions I have to open a website first in IE before I can get it to open in FireFox. On all ocassions it has been for a site I have never visited before. FireFox will first tell me the website is not accessible. Then, after IE opens the site, I can then open the website in FireFox. You need to fix this, because, as a businessman, I cannot be wasting a lot of valuable time going to FireFox, then IE and then back to FireFox during my online research activities, which are a critical and time-consuming part of our business.

Can you be troubled to give some examples, since this obviously works for the 11 million other people who use it....

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20041217 Firefox/1.0+ From the reporter's POV it is hard to reproduce - once the site is open, it is no longer closed to Firefox. Can you see the problem the problem with any other standards compliant browser? Can you see it on any other platform? Do you have saved headers and/or network traces? I am quite happy to agree that an inability to open sites for the first time is an important problem. The first step is to identify whether the problem is due to a defect in Firefox and if not, it doesn't belong in Bugzilla.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
