Details
Whenever I attempt to copy or move an email to another folder, the email will
not appear if the email is read. However, if it is unread it will be copied or
moved as expected.
I have uninstalled Tbird 1.0, deleted the profiles folder, and reinstalled a
freshly downloaded installation file, restored my emails, settings, etc. but the
problem persists.

see this on my windows xp sp2 & linux rh fc2 machines, t-bird 1.06. multiple
move/copy will end up with blank subject/text messages in destination (dated
12/31/69). sometimes the first 1 or 2 msgs survive @ destination. single
move/copy is ok.

I'm having the same problem. By moving read and replied mails from the inbox to another top level folder they do not appear in the target folder.
I'm running TB 1.0.7 (20051001) on a FreeBSD 5.4 box which was installed (compiled) using the ports system.

After updating to TB 1.0.7 (20051106) the problem still persists. So I'm currently thinking to substitute the client. That bug is to critical and I cannot 'loose' more company related mails.

I also have this problem.
When i first moved the messages to another folder everything was OK, but when I renamed the folder all messages disappered.
renaming back to the previous name did not help.
Does anybody know how to get those IMPORTANT mails back.
My TB version is 1.5.0.1

still happening as per my earlier comment, now using t-bird 1.5.0.4 (20060516) running on linux red hat 2.6.16-1.2096_FC4.

problem slightly abated with t-bird 1.5.0.4 (20060516) on linux 2.6.16-1.2096_FC4 and Windows XP SP2. Windows move/copy seem to work ok, unfortunately 20060516 build still loses move/copies when running on linux 2.6.16-1.2096_FC4 as per my last comment below...

I'm having a similar problem. Mail disappears from Inbox in 'All' view if the mail is 1) read and 2) moved to a different folder. I also managed to lose view of all my mail in the Inbox folder by switching to the 'Unread' view and deleting all the unread messages that came up (only had about 5 unread messages, compared to the hundreds of e-mails in my inbox). My guess is that deleting all the emails in the Unread view somehow tricks Thunderbird into thinking that there are no emails left even in the All view, but I could be wrong.
Was running Tbird 1.0.7, upgraded to the latest 1.5.0.6 and still have the same problem. Running Windows 2003, can see messages in my Inbox if I view in Not Junk mode.
I had this problem on thunderbird 2.0b2 when i moved a large number of emails. I'm using windows xp. On Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 this never happened to me. Anyone knows how can i get my emails back?

when we switched to a new email server (a hardware/software solution) the problem went away. the old one was aix based (using its email daemon) and there was a segment size limit of 256k in effect. the new system (mirapoint) is linux based.

Well I found how i get back my emails... I just erase the *.msf of the folder that had the problem. Thunderbird will rebuild it and we can see the emails again.
