RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 275554

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

Installed the ForecastFox extension and it replaced the WeatherFox extension
without deleting it in the Extensions dialog. I manually went and deleted it
from one location in my Application Data profile in Windows XP and that caused
FireFox to freeze. I was able to do a search and delete all references to it in
the "prefs.js" file and it came back up normally. It would be nice if the
Extensions dialog was converted into a separate stand-alone executable for such
purposes only. Also, the FireFox (Safe Mode) version did not work either. Are
extensions disabled in safe mode? It would be nice if it gave you a list of
options to load/not load before running.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
See description.

Actual Results:
Locked out. Except for the min, max, restore and close buttons.

Expected Results:
Ignored missing extensions.
please don't skip steps to repro section. what exactly did you delete? what
exactly did you do to make it work again? Could you check to see if the two
extensions had the same em:id in their install.rdf (it's inside the xpi, which
is just a zipped file). Do they have the same chrome name?

>Are extensions disabled in safe mode?
yes
Duping to the extension author's description of the problem.

Sorry. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Profile_Name\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vn20gkhd.default\extensions and delete the
WeatherFox folder. I believe it started with {8.... Once that gets deleted,
you can no longer start FireFox normally (even in safe-mode) because it freezes
up. I had to delete all references to WeatherFox in "prefs.js" before I could
get it to work again.
