When I close a tab and the next one becomes active the name in the browser title bar and on the taskbar does not change. The title of the closed page remains in both places until I refresh a page in one of the active tabs or browse somewhere else.

Can you be more specific?
The blue bar at the top of the browser window, the browser Titlebar, has the name of whatever site you visit followed by " - Mizilla Firefox" So in the case of my browser now it says Bug 275437 - Browser Title Doesn't refresh On Closing Tab - Mozilla Firefox If I close this tab my Clear Skies Clock tab will become active since it is open also. The title of that tab should say New York City Clear Sky Clock - Mozilla Firefox That is what it said when I activated that tab to check it. But now I am back in the Bugzilla tab and my browser Titlebar and the button in the Windows Taskbar still say New York City Clear Sky Clock - Mozilla Firefox They will continue to say that until I click a button to send data to a web site, in this case you, or until the page autorefreshes (I think). Once I subnit this form my browser Titlebar will change to Bug 275437 - Browser Title Doesn't refresh On Closing Tab - Mozilla Firefox If I then close this tab the Clear Sky Clock will open up but the title of the browser will remain Bug 275437 - Browser Title Doesn't refresh On Closing Tab - Mozilla Firefox This isn't a big probblem within the browser as all the tabs remain properly named when they are open. But when I have 6 or so tabs open in the browser it is more convenient to open anotehr browser if I need access to more web pages since the titles are getting crunched in the tabs by the time you get six open. So I want to be able to look at the taskbar and know which of my browser sessions contains the active tab I need to access.

I'm getting this too. Check the screen shots in the attached image. The first is before, the second is after I closed the Yahoo tab. Notice the window title, it still says yahoo. I'm using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050105 Firefox/1.0+ in XFree86/fluxbox.
Duplicate of Bug 250423?

Very closely rel(In reply to comment #4) > Duplicate of Bug 250423? Very closely related, but not the same symptoms. Both can be generalized to be that sometimes the window title reflects the title of a page that is not in the current tab.
