This feature enables tasks to be dependent upon other tasks that must be
completed before it. This is ideal for tasks which are not just date-dependent,
but dependent on another task finishing first (like how things work in the real
world.)

Optionally (and ideally), tasks can have multiple dependencies.

This feature upgrades Tasks from being a "todo" into a "planner", and saves
users the steps of copying from their planners into the tasks list. It would be
valuable to users because once they enter and organize the tasks, the tasks they
need to be working on would be shown automatically, saving the step of going
through the Tasks to find out what should be the next thing to do out of dozens
of "late" or "urgent" tasks (again, thinking of real-world applications here.)

I don't think this wouldn't be too hard to implement (using iCal "RELATED-TO"
property or an "X-..." extension if using iCal RFC?), and would greatly increase
the value of the standalone calendar app.

-add "Depends On" drop-down to bottom of Calendar Event Tasks window which
allows selection (possibly multiple) of currently-existing events. Internally,
you could take the ID of each Event from the "Depends On" selector and add it to
a newly-created "DependsOn" field in the current Event (I don't know the
internals, but this is my best guess.)
-add "Sort by Dependencies" to Tasks, or better yet, do this automatically.
-Indent events in Tasks which have dependencies.
-add "Hide Dependencies" button to display only current tasks (tasks which are
"do-able")
This sounds like bug 194863. See also bug 256712.
