When Firefox is commanded to print or print preview this page [http://climate.gi.alaska.edu/Fairbanks/departures.html], it freezes while it is preparing the document for viewing or sending to the printer. This is the first time firefox has frozen on a print command for me, and I am able to print and preview other pages.
When Firefox is commanded to print this page [http://www.jp.dk/] (2005-01-20), it freezes while it is preparing the document for viewing or sending to the printer. This is the first time firefox has frozen on a print command for me, and I am able to print and preview other pages. When disabling CSS, printing is OK.
I experience crashes on Print Preview for both pages linked, using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Another URL where firefix and Mozilla (Windows and Linux) freezes: http://www.heute.de/ZDFheute/inhalt/28/0,3672,2261276,00.html There is a flash on this site, but deactivating the flash it happens, too. The processor use raises up to 100%. Seems to happen in all versions, Linux, Mac, Windows: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20050105 Debian/1.7.5-1 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050217 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1 I get this error running mozilla or firefox from a terminal: run-mozilla.sh: line 159: 11519 Killed "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
I experience crashes on Print Preview or Print for : - http://www.jp.dk/ AND - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Vader using : - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050513 Fedora/1.0.4-1.3.1 Firefox/1.0.4 AND - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; fr-FR;rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4)
I had no problem with Print | Preview for the URLs listed above with this nightly. Has this somehow been fixed? Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050531 Firefox/1.0+
More recently, I tried to Print Preview http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Vader as reported. I was able to get the preview, but when I commanded it to close, it frose then. When I originally reported the bug, it froze without displaying the preview. With http://www.jp.dk/ , it still freezes on command to preview. Somehow, there is an inconsistancy here. edit: after trying http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Vader agian, it didn't freeze at all. Inconsistancies... currently using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
(In reply to comment #7) > More recently, I tried to Print Preview http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Vader > as reported. I found the current revision (as of "now") of the following webpage will crash on Print Preview : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_DC There has been a short discussion of this on the fedora users list mentioning several platforms and versions of firefox (and IE crashing too) : https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2005-June/msg01096.html
I experiance print freezes at the Oracle support site: http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_gui.startup As of yesterday and today (July 26-27 2005) I have run across various patch readme pages and Oracle Note pages, that when I attempt to print, will freeze Firefox and lock up my computer until I use Task Manager to kill Firefox. On that site about 1 in 5 print jobs cause a print freeze. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional and Firefox 1.0.6. It also occurred on Firefox 1.0.5.
Attached zip of html + assoc directory of images. This page causes lockup of print and/or print preview. Hope this aids debugging.
BTW, the page I attached locks up FireFox 1.06: "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6"
In regards to the newly added attachment: I opened the HTML page without any of the outside files, and I was able to print preview. So, I started to remove files one by one that I suspected to cause the problem [the files "a", "a_002"]. Neither of them fixed the problem. I then removed the CSS file [main.css] and Firefox no longer froze on print preview. I believe CSS was stated earlier as a probable cause (comment #1). I'm no coder, but I'd like to find what in these select CSS files is causing FF to freeze.
