It would be great if the bookmarks could be changed from a standard heirarchical
folder system to one like Epiphany uses, or at least if it could be made an option.

Thank you.

Reproducible: Always
What's different with epiphany? Looking at the version I have installed it
looks quite similar to our bookmarks impl.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

I originally replied on 24/12/04, but that was by email so the comment system
appears not to have picked it up.

Epiphany folders are similar to Firefox folders, but they are non-heirarchical.

For example, lets say I have bookmarked a site containing tutorials for Blender.
In Epiphany, I would tick the "Tutorials", "Free", "Art", & "3D" keyword plus
add and tick a new "Blender" keyword.

Under a heirarchical bookmark system such as that used by Firefox, I have to
figure out whether the bookmark should go under my "Free Software" folder, my
"Art/3D" folder or my "Art/Tutorials" folder (for example). Then, a month later
I have to REMEMBER which one I filed it under.

In Epiphany, I can type any one of those into the address bar and all sites
matching that keyword would be listed. Each keyword also appears as a folder
under the bookmarks menu.

I believe Epiphany is also working on implementing the following features (which
I believe Firefox should also include):

(a) The ability to type multiple keywords (and thus display just bookmarks that
fall within the intersection of categories)
(b) If I go to the bookmarks menu and select (eg.) "Art" it will display all the
categories that have bookmarks intersecting with it. eg. I can get to the
Blender Tutorial Bookmark via "Art"->"Tutorials"->"3D", or
"Tutorials"->"Blender" or any combination of keywords.

Heirarchical structures are great for a lot of things, but they're a pain to use
for any set of things that fall within multiple categories (eg. bookmarks) and
they don't add any value that I can see. It'd be great if the order of the
categorisation was irrelevant.

Thanks.

Too geeky (no offence), I doubt Joe User would ever use it.
Extension material (wait till 2.0 when bookmarks will probably be stored in a
database instead of a single file)
