If you want to find out the bugs in a current version, or those targetted for
the next release, you have to know the version number. How about an alias of
Current that points to the most last version (the one before unspecified) in the
Version box and Next for the Target box that picks the one right after Current.

That would allow you to have a standing query of bugs targetted for the next
release, or those found in the current release.
Reassigning bugs that I'm not actively working on to the default component owner
in order to try to make some sanity out of my personal buglist. This doesn't
mean the bug isn't being dealt with, just that I'm not the one doing it. If you
are dealing with this bug, please assign it to yourself.

note that there's a concept of a default milestone, but there is no concept of anything version related. IMO that's a bug.

Probably the best thing available is:

"[n] before {}"

where you would write:
"before ---" or "5 before ---"

This happens to work well enough in most places.

I suppose technically this is a preposition not an alias or pronoun.
Summary: Aliases for Version and Target → Aliases (Prepositions like Pronouns) for Version and Target
unfortunately this would be complicated to fix within search, and provide minimal functionality.
