Since I'm so used to using middle-click in Firefox, everytime I middle-click a link in TB, TB just closes. Suggestion: Middle-click should open the link as if it were a left click, or middle-click should just be ignored. I also suggest middle click open in a new tab in Firefox but I know that is a firefox feature.
Build: version 1.0 (20041206) sorry forgot bugzilla doesn't automatically detect build id for TB

I tried this with Thunderbird 1.0 on XP SP2 and it does appear ignored for me. I tried both a link and an email link. Perhaps you got your middle mouse button configured incorrectly?

Bug 270434 is about having TB do something in response to a middle-click; generally, it's ignored (or, under Linux, may cause pasting of data -- see bug 232688). Kurt, are you still having problems with the program exiting (crashing?) in response to a middle-click? Does the problem occur if you have multiple TB windows open (e.g. a compose window or standalone message window, in addition to the 3-pane)?
Sorry was the way the middle-click button was set in the mouse properties. (Should have checked there first)
