Details

After downloading a new theme, & restarting firefox, only the default theme is
available. This pb started after re-installing WinXP. Related to this pb:
custumisation attempts using "options" ends up with a "save error".

What is the message ("save error") exactly and make sure you don't have wrong
permissions (read-only, for example) on the Profile folder
(%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.*\) or files inside it.
Which version of Firefox are you using (you can find this information by going
to 'Help' and then 'About Mozilla Firefox')?
