User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Mac_PowerPC)
Build Identifier:
Horizontal and vertical scroll bars in the Browser do not render correctly when
a web page initially loads. Scroll bars in Mail appear to work correctly. This
problem seems to have cropped up after upgrading to 1.7.5.
I use tabbed browsing and will open multiple tabs from both Mail and from
existing Browser tabs. I have Mozilla open new tabs in the background. When I
switch to the new tab, the vertical scoll bar will not be scaled correctly for
the height of the page, ditto the horizontal scroll bar. The horizontal
scrollbar may include screen artifacts, such as text and colours, from within
the browser window.
After I click the scroll handle in the scroll bar, or within the scrollbar area,
the scrollbar re-renders to the correct proportion for the page.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Resize the browser window to a smaller size in order to force a horizontal
scroll bar for the purpose of this demo.
2. Load the URL provided.
3. Right-click or ctl-click the first link in the body of the page ("Indepth:
tsunamis") and open the link in a new browser tab. (I have the tabs load in the
background and have not tested for alternate contexts)
4. After the page has loaded in background, switch to the tab to view the web
page. The scroll bars will be messed up as described earlier.
Actual Results:
Vert scroll bar retains aspect ration for tab/page from which I had switched.
It corrects itself (re-renders) after I click somewhere within the scroll bar.
Horiz scroll bar behaves similarly, but will also display screen artifacts.
Expected Results:
Display clean scroll bars that reflect correct page proportions.
This example shows artifacts appearing inside the horizontal scroll bar area.
Affected UA is: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5)

Same problem here! First appeared after I installed Mozilla 1.7.5.

New example attached, typical of what I've been seeing since 1.7.5: The vertical
scroll bar is initially rendered at the bottom.
Also, shouldn't the OS for this bug be changed from 9.x to X?

Another attachment, showing complete lack of vertical scroll bar in mail panel.
Page down works to scroll, and the scroll bar did not appear. This is a saved
draft. The scroll bar displays correctly when viewing the message in the Sent
folder.

Still present in Mozilla 1.8a6
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111
Problem appears to be that switching tothe new tab does not result in the
scrollbars for the new tab being redrawn. Instead we still see the scrollbars
from the previously-viewed tab (or whatever was in the scrollbar region if there
were no scrollbars on that page). Any action that results in scrollbar changes
(page-up/dn, arrow motion that scrolls the main pain, etc.) immediately and
correctly draws the scrollbar.
