I think it would be great for many people to be able to customize the 'week lenght'. For example, I work 3 days and then I've got 2 free days (yes, it is a pretty nice working schedule :-) So weekends on Saturday/Sunday mean nothing to me. That makes a five days week. So it would be very interesting to let the user set how long his/her 'week' is and which days are 'weekend'. Customizing the calendar that way somehow, being able to set the week this way: three days work/two days off, or four days work/two days off, or whatever is needed by anyone.

no, it isn't You can do what the original bug report requested. You can set a 5 day workweek, but not a 5 day week.

Yes Michiel, you are right, it isn't. Basically what I need here is to be able to set a five (or four, or...) days week. I just installed last release to see if it was true that was already implemented, but it wasn't. :-( And I think I've seen this feature somewhere in the roadmap.

There is a setting in the preferences for Day(s) off each week, but this seems to do nothing. I had imagined in comparison to other products it would remove days that were checked from the calendar. Any other product I have seen you can hide weekends in some way, so I don't know if this non-functional feature is supposed to do that or something else.

(In reply to comment #4) This depends on what product (calendar, sunbird, lightning) and what version (0.2, 0.3a1, nightly) you use. But in general the setting in the preferences for Day(s) off each week is just a setting. Go to View menu and enable/disable Workweek days only to use it.

I'm using Lightning 0.1 with Thunderbird version 1.5.0.2 (20060501) on Fedora Core 5. I've changed 'First day of the week:' option to Saturday. While it have effect in small window, it doesn't have effect on the calendar may window (see screen shot). Another option I want to change is a weekend. I've been used Sunbird 0.2 and that was possbile to do there, but it isn't possible to do in Lightning. Timezone selection doesn't seem to work. Actually I wasn't able to select any.

(In reply to comment #6) > I'm using Lightning 0.1 with Thunderbird version 1.5.0.2 (20060501) ... This is Bug 321608 that was fixed long ago (but after release of Lightning 0.1). If possible retest with a current nightly build of Sunbird/Lightning first.

you can specify workweek and then hide the rest so you will have what you need: Sunbird displays only 4-5 days marked as WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a2pre) Gecko/20070114 Calendar/0.6a1

(In reply to comment #12) > See comment #2 for why this shouldn't be closed. If comment 2 describes the issue adequately, then I would recommend to resolve this bug as WONTFIX. It is not the goal of either the Sunbird nor the Lightning project to make every edge case setting available through the UI. And I would argue that such edge cases would be better served by extensions.

Since we are not fixing this in main product, I'm marking this as WONTFIX. But, we would be happy to support you (answering questions, reviewing code etc) in crafting an extension for sunbird and lightning that would deliver this functionality.
