I would like to be able to hold down the option key (for example), select Empty
Trash from the menu and have it empty the trash from all of the e-mail accounts.
When the option key is pressed, the menu item should change to indicate the new
behavior.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

The problem still exists and I would still like to see this feature implemented.
howdy y'all,

[1] my tbird info ...
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060516 Thunderbird/1.5.0.4 - Build ID: 2006051612

[2] the file/empty-trash command is misleading when one has more than one account ... and one _always_ seems to have at least two accounts given that one can't get rid of the local folders account.

the menu command otta show the account it will apply to and some way to select ...
- any specific account
- all accounts

the default should be the currently selected account and NOT EVER all accounts.

[3] perhaps this should be combined with bug 112944 and that should be changed to CORE instead of the mozsuite.

take care,
lee

I would propose that a menu item "Empty All Trash" be added to the File menu to empty trash for all accounts (not just the current account, as "Empty Trash" does). Also, I would suggest the addition of a "Compact All Folders" menu item.

Such functionality seems to be missing from Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 and 3.0a1pre, and manually clicking into each account to empty the trash and compact gets quite annoying when you have several accounts.
